Hey love, nice to meet you.
A little bit about me
Have you seen that Kristen Bell interview on Ellen? The one where she tells the story of her husband surprising her at her birthday party with her all-time favorite animal, a sloth? Google it. Heck, don't google it, here it is. While talking about this moment that Kristen says she's been waiting her entire life for, she also says one of my favorite things ever. "There's something you should know about me, if I'm not between a 3 and a 7 on the emotional scale... I'm crying... I'm crying if I'm too sad, I'm crying if I'm too excited."
That's me. If I'm not sitting on the numbers 4, 5, and 6, odds are I'm shedding a few tears. I just can't hang emotionally. But I looooove feeling things so intensely, it's what (I think) makes me good at what I do.
On a wedding day you feel alllllll the things. Almost every emotion rears its lil' head on a wedding day. Feeling all of those things helps me anticipate and capture the moments happening during the day. A wedding is an incredible thing to witness and it's something I feel privileged to be apart of.
I was an Art History major in college and lived in Rome studying the Renaissance and Baroque periods. I loved Art History because it was about preserving people and their stories from long ago. People want to be remembered and I was fascinated by the mediums and lengths they would go to in order to do so. Photography for me became the perfect blend of history, love, and art. I love the idea that the photo I take will hang on your wall for your children and grandchildren to see.
Why I love intimate weddings and elopements
I've been photographing weddings since 2012 and in the last few years I have been honored to be asked to photograph some truly beautiful moments, but outdoor, intimate, weddings and elopements have become my happy place and I'll tell you why.
When couples decide to take their wedding off the beaten path, they often find a special place to have their wedding and it's frequently a place that means something to them or their families. Due to the planning logistics of where they're having their wedding they often only invite a handful of their nearest and dearest. They pick their favorite food, a few details to make their day theirs, and they leave tradition at the door. They decide to make it an experience instead of a production.
And that, that right there, is the heart of why I almost only photograph small weddings. For me, a wedding is an experience. Not an event. It's a day to stand side by side with the person you love the most (in front of your most treasured friends and family or no one at all), and say "I love you and will love you with every breath I have from here on out".
I would be honored to capture the love you have for one another.
I am available to accompany you two wherever you'd like to say "I Do". I'd love to hear more from you, so let's chat.
