Frequently Asked Questions
How Does a Portrait Session Work?
Being in front of the camera can be totally intimidating! Trust me, I know. Most people don’t enjoy having their picture taken. However, I want to make this fun for you!
When I book a session there are usually a lot of questions about the logistics of everything. So I thought I’d take you through a typical session and if you still have questions, feel free to contact me.
When we get to the location, I often ask you to simply interact with one another as I click away. This lets you get comfortable with me moving around and “getting in your space” for lack of a better term. Then we’re off to the races! What happens next is different for each session. You can climb a tree, play on a swing set, cuddle with your sweetie, or share an ice cream cone. It’s really up to you! I, of course, will be guiding you with suggestions like “give her a kiss, stand here, not there, and hold hands”.
The moment I’ll capture won’t come from me. It’ll come from your interaction with one another.
What Should I Wear to My Shoot?
This is the number one question I get. So, lucky for you, I’ve put together a blog post to help you out. It’s written for engaged couples, because that is who I primarily shoot, but the same principals apply to families. You can find it here.
Do You Shoot Weddings?
Absolutely! To reserve your date or find out more information on pricing, please contact me and we’ll set up a time to chat.
What Equipment Do You Use?
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III DSLR and am in love with my 50mm f/1.2, so it is the lens that I tend to use most often. I love natural light and rarely use flash or reflectors, unless the situation calls for it. I like to keep it simple. Why mess with this beautiful Southern California light?
Do You Travel?
Yes! Whether that means driving or flying, I’m willing to go anywhere. (Italy, anyone?) Please contact me for more details.
